Book Drop

The Sandwich Public Library offers an outdoor book drop so you can return materials 24/7. There is one drop for books and another for audio visual items.

Homebound Delivery

Are you or someone you know temporarily or permanently home-bound due to illness, disability, or age? Let us bring the Library to you!

Call our Circulation Desk at 815-786-8308 and staff will:

  • Explain the service and take your information, including the type of materials
  • you prefer
  • Schedule a regular day and time for delivery
  • Drop off and pick up library materials at your home (twice a month limit).

All items owned by SPLD are available for delivery.

This is a free service. However, to be eligible you must be a homebound adult (for a minimum of 30 days) who lives in Sandwich and has a valid Sandwich Public Library Card.

Museum Adventure Pass

The library offers free museum passes to Sandwich library card holders! Choose from over 15 different museums!

  • In order to participate, patrons much physically visit the library to obtain the passes. Passes cannot be checked out by email or by phone.
  • There are only 4 individual passes available for each museum every week. Passes regenerate every 7 days.
  • Only ONE pass per ONE museum may be checked out to a patron at a time.
  • There is no waiting list. The passes are available first come, first serve only.
  • Passes are printed out and have an expiration date that the patrons must use them by.

Talking Books

The library is partnered with the Illinois Talking Book Outreach Center. This partnership grants the opportunity to provide easily navigable and accessible audio books to patron whom are unable to read print due to a visual or physical impairment. All you have to do is fill out an application!

How it Works:

Accessible materials (digital audio and braille books and magazines) are conveniently mailed to and from patrons wherever they reside. The program is tax supported so there is never any out-of-pocket expense for postage or materials. - Illinois Talking Book Outreach Center Website

Skype

The library offers Skype video calling software to our patrons!skype

If you are interested in using or learning about this software, please contact the library and ask one of the staff members. Staff is also available to offer a free tutorial if you are unfamiliar with Skype. Simply schedule an appointment with one of the staff members and you'll learn how to efficiently use Skype before you know it.

Skype is available on the computer in the Social Gathering Room. It is first come, first serve to use.
