Banned Books Week
September 27th - October 3rd
Banned Books Week is right around the corner and we are excited to advocate and celebrate our freedom to read with all of you!
What is Banned Books Week?
The purpose of Banned Books Week is to provide awareness of the issues surrounding censorship and advocate for our freedom to read whatever we choose!
To celebrate, we have many interesting displays depicting books than have been banned at some point in time! We also are giving away booklets that contain the most frequently banned books from 2013-2014. Some of the titles that have been challenged may surprise you!
If you are interested in learning more about the history and purpose of Banned Books Week, let us know! We'd be glad to provide more resources and information for you.
Banned Books Week Movie Matinee
We are also having a Banned Books Week Movie matinee where we will be showing a movie adaptation of a previously banned book. The dates and times for movie showings are listed in the flyer below. If interested in learning what titles we will be showing, please contact the library.
We genuinely look forward to celebrating our freedom to read with all of you, so come on down to the library so we can build knowledge, education and understanding about this incredible week.
This is a free program and all ages are welcome! All movies are rated PG.
